Dhaka-Sylhet rail link snapped for 14 hours

The train communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country was restored after 14 hours yesterday morning.
Railway sources said the disruption occurred after a Sylhet-bound train 'Joyontika' from Dhaka hit a sand-laden truck at Lashkarpur level crossing in Sylhet at about 7:00pm Thursday.
The train engine along with a coach was derailed while the truck, which was carrying some 20 people, overturned on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in the accident, halting traffic movements on the highway, sources said.
The road communication was restored at about 10:00pm Thursday while the train communication resumed at about 9:30am yesterday after a relief train from Akhaura reached the spot.
The passengers of the truck suffered minor injuries during the accident.
