CUJ stages sit-in

Chittagong Union of Journalists' (CUJ) yesterday organised a sit-in programme in front of the Daily Purbokone demanding implementation of the Seventh Wage Board Award.
Nearly 100 journalists, leaders of different political parties and professional groups attended the programme to express solidarity with the demand of the journalists.
With CUJ President M Shahidul Alam in the chair, the programme began at 10:00am and was, however, withdrawn after two hours when the Purbokone Editor Taslim Uddin Chowdhury assured the journalist leaders of settling the wage board award issue by next two days through discussion.
The CUJ will also hold similar programmes at the Daily Azadi today and Bir Chattagram Mancha on August 12 to press home their demand for realising the 7th Wage Board Award.
