Five hurt in clash at Premier University
At least five students were injured in a clash between two groups of students at Chittagong City Corporation-run private university Premier University in the port city yesterday.
Two were identified as Sattyajit Das, a 4th year student of Marketing and Ziauddin Bablu, also a 4th year student of Accounting and were admitted at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Sources and witnesses said the clash ensued at the BBA faculty of the university at Dampara at around 11:30am when two students' groups locked into altercation over boycotting classes to press demand of reinstatement of a former Dean of the faculty Prof Milon Kumar Bhattacharjee.
The vehicular movement remained stopped at the busy road in front of the university for half an hour.
Later, police from Kotwali police station rushed there and took control of the situation.
Yakub Ali, a BBA student, said Prof Milon Kumar resigned from the post and quit job on March 5 after an allegation of leaking question was raised against him.
Mentionable, several hundred students of the faculty started a movement from that time and continued it for around one month demanding reinstatement of the teacher blaming the university administration for forcing him to resign.
