Remembering Tagore in Faridpur
Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Sammilion Parishad (JRSSP), Faridpur unit, observed the 69th death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. The programme was held at Faridpur Sahittyo O Sangskriti Unnnayan Sangstha auditorium on Friday evening.
The programme included a discussion, rendition of songs and recitation.
The speakers were of the view that the literary works of Tagore reflect the Bengali spirit. Through his literary works, our culture and tradition have been introduced to the whole world. Tagore has enriched Bengali literature, they added.
Among others, Abul Fayez Shah Newaz, newly elected president of Faridpur Sahittyo O Sangskriti Unnnayan Sangsthan (FSOSUS); Abu Sufian Chowdhury Kushol, secretary of FSOSUS and also the vice president of JRSSP, Faridpur unit; Siraj-e Kobir Khokon, assistant secretary of FSOSUS; Lalon researcher Salamot Hosssain Khan; Shawkot Ali Zahid, secretary of JRSSP Faridpur unit and cultural activist Asma Akter Mukta spoke at the function.
Professor Abdul Motaleb, president of JRSSP, Faridpur was in the chair.
Singers Steve Tourjo Baroy, Shib Sankar, Sharif Md. Sajib, SM Zahirul Haque Sujan, Osmita Gosh, Gini, Saroda Bijoya, Showrin Sheikh, Chinmoy Gosh, Onindita Chakroborti, Setu Das and Mitu Das rendered songs on the occasion. Surjanath Das was on tabla while Abu Sufian Chowdhury recited poetry.
