'Keep Tk 100cr in DU budget for research'
A separate fund of Tk 100 crore should be allocated in the Dhaka University budget for research programmes, said speakers at a launching programme to support young researchers yesterday.
Nagorik Shanghati, a civil society organisation, organised the programme to encourage young researchers at the RC Majumder auditorium at Dhaka University.
Speakers said the programme was launched in an effort to encourage the masters-level students of the university who conduct thesis as part of their academic activities.
In the first phase of the programme, Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury, a former DU student of Mass Communication and Journalism Department, presented his thesis paper on “Role of Amitav Reja in Advertisement Industry.”
Mustafizur Rahman, another former DU student of Social Welfare presented his thesis on “Activities of NGOs in Rural Bangladesh.”
Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique was present as chief guest on the occasion while ASM Atiqur Rahman, professor of Social Welfare Department of DU, also the president of Nagorik Shanghati and associate professor of Mass Communication and Journa-lism Department of DU Robaet Ferdous were also present.
