Screening of films on Liberation War at Public Library
On the occasion of Victory Day, a four-day session of films on Liberation War by Tareque Masud and Catherine Masud will be screened at the Shawkat Osman Auditorium, Central Public Library from December 13th to 16th, says a press release.
The event is organised by Tapur Tupur. Proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to relief for the victims of Sidr. Three films will be screened daily: Matir Moina at 3pm, Muktir Gaan at 5pm, and Muktir Katha at 7pm. Matir Moina and Muktir Gaan will each be preceded by a short “making of” documentary, and Muktir Katha will be preceded by Narir Katha, a short documentary on the role of women in '71.
The ticket price for each screening is Tk 30. Tickets will be available at the Public Library premises on the day of the show.
Matir Moina is a feature film set against the backdrop of the mass upsurge in 1969, leading up to the Liberation War. Muktir Gaan follows the experiences of a troupe of young cultural activists who performed at the refugee camps and liberated zones during the war. Muktir Katha takes a look at the post-liberation scenario, from the perspective of ordinary villagers and Freedom Fighters whose hopes and dreams turned to frustration after the War.
