BKP to contest DCC election
Bangladesh Kalyan Party (BKP) will take part in the Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) election, party sources said.
"We are in the process to create a strong footing in the city," BKP Chairman Maj Gen (retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim told The Daily Star yesterday.
"We have started interaction with various important people in the city," he added.
"We will also give support to our candidates in the ward commissioner election," BKP chief said.
BKP already contacted former Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) mayor Abul Hasnat Chowdhury, former deputy DCC mayor Khaliquzzaman Chowdhury, president of Muktijoddha Gono Parishad Ishtiaque Aziz Ulfat to contest the DCC election, party insiders told The Daily Star.
Forming of ward committees is under process, added the source.
As it is a new party, they are giving priority on DCC election, BKP sources said.
BKP will appoint four coordinators, dividing the capital into four areas.
Inauguration of BKP central office Maj Gen (retd) Ibrahim inaugurated the temporary central office of BKP at Purana Paltan in the city yesterday.
"Our party will surely survive as we have nothing to lose," the BKP chief said while inaugurating the office.
