Fake-note making factory unearthed

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) unearthed a counterfeit note producing factory at Niketan in the city's Gulshan area and arrested three people, including two foreigners, for their involvement in producing and marketing them in and out of the country.
The Rab-1 team also recovered counterfeit notes worth Tk 53 lakhs and note producing equipment from the factory Wednesday, the Rab press release said.
Acting on a tip-off, the team arrested Isomo Hasan, 34, of Cameroon, Liza Harnandez, 51, of Philippines and Kamruzzaman, 50, a Bangladeshi citizen.
The elite force also recovered a number of laptops, printers and different foreign currencies, including Euro, US dollar and half-printed Bangladeshi notes from their possession.
The arrestees were handed over to Gulshan Police Station, said Kamruzzaman, assistant superintendent of police.
