Dowry takes lives of 32 women in July
Around 622 people including 111 women and children in the country were killed in different incidents in July, says a Bangladesh Society for the Enforcement of Human Rights (BSEHR) press release yesterday.
According to a report of BSEHR based on published news in different newspapers, about 32 women gave their lives for dowry while 52 women and children became victims of rape. Of them three children and four women were murdered after rape.
The report said 10 people were killed in encounter with law enforcers while three died and one committed suicide in police custody.
Border Security Force shot dead six Bangladeshis and abducted another 29 including children in July.
A total of 36 women were killed due to family feud while 10 were injured. Four domestic helps were killed after torture.
About 35 people, both male and female, committed suicide for different reasons.
BSEHR expressed grave concern over the increase of extra-judicial killings by law enforcers along with the number of murders and arrests.
