Support to family members of Razia, Siddiqur
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday handed over savings certificates equivalent to Tk 10 lakh to each of the families of two additional secretaries who were killed in a road accident on July 31.
Basic Bank gave the savings certificates to the families of Secretary (in-charge) of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Razia Begum and chairman of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) Siddiqur Rahman.
Handing over the certificates to the children of the two top civil bureaucrats, the Prime Minister advised them to establish themselves as worthy citizens of the country by pursuing their studies.
"The souls of your parents would rest in peace if you could fulfill their desire through building up your career," she told the children of the deceased.
Hasina, who lost most of her family members, including her father also the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on the fateful night of August 15, 1975, said, "I understand the pains and sorrows of losing parents."
She said it is a sacred duty of a child to complete the unfinished tasks of the parents. If he or she does so, the souls of the parents will get eternal peace, she added.
Members of the families of the deceased expressed their gratitude to the prime minister for her sympathy towards them after the accident. They sought bringing amendments to the existing laws to prevent road crashes across the country.
