Two commit suicide in city
Two persons, including a college student, allegedly committed suicide in the capital yesterday.
The deceased student, Naima Islam, 18, a resident of Fouji Colony, was an HSC examinee from BAF Shaheen College this year. She failed to pass the exam.
Family members said they found her body hanging from a ceiling fan of her room after they broke in its door.
She shut herself in the room after taking breakfast and was not responding for long.
Police sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Naima's family members said the girl was mentally disturbed these days following the HSC result and undergoing treatment.
In another incident, Tanveer Haider Munna, 35, an accountant of the Department of Public Health Engineering, hanged himself from his bathroom shower pipe using a rope at his Kadomtoli residence around 8:30am.
A moment earlier, he had received a phone call from a colleague.
Munna's relatives took the body to DMCH where doctors announced him dead.
Faisal Haider Panna, younger brother of the deceased, told The Daily Star that Munna had to bear huge mental torture at his office. He was also upset following his daughter's death about two years back.
