7 injured as robbers, villagers clash
Seven people, including three robbers, were injured in a fierce clash between robbers and villagers at Pirpurkulla village in Damurhuda upazila on Friday night.
Locals said, a gang of robbers numbering 10/15 intercepted a group of people at about 10:00pm while they were returning home from nearby Karpashdana bazaar and tried to loot valuables from them.
Hearing their hue and cry, villagers rushed to spot and locked in a clash with the robbers that left seven people including three robbers injured. Later, the robbers fled the scene along with their injured accomplices.
Three injured villagers were rushed to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
In Sirajganj, a gang of robbers looted cash and valuables worth Tk 4 lakh from an engine-driven boat in Jamuna river injuring seven businessmen on Friday.
Police said, around 25/30 businessmen from Meghna Ghat were going to nearby Natuarpara market by the boat. A gang of robbers swooped on the boat when it reached Biralgari char area and took the businessmen hostage at gunpoint at about 8:00am.
Later, they beat the businessmen mercilessly leaving seven injured and looted Tk 3 lakh in cash and other valuables from them.
