Four fake Rab men held on mugging, abduction charges
Members of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) arrested four people on Tuesday night from Rajabari BDR check post area in Rajshahi district on charge of taking away Tk1,70,000 from a mango dealer and kidnapping him in the guise of Rab men.
The arrestees are Jainal, 35, son of Mahmud Fakir of Bharar Char village under Shribordi upazila in Sherpur district, Isahak Ali, 35, son of Taijuddin of Khasdanga-Borura village under Tangail district, Abu Taher, 38, son of Aziz Bux of Nishchintapur- Keralkhali village under Jessore district and Alamgir alias Tarog Ali, 38, son of Umed Ali of Bariakandi village under Homna upazila in Comilla district.
Ismail Hossain, Sub- Inspector (SI) of Shibganj police station said, four people identifying themselves as Rab members snatched Tk 1,70,000 from mango trader Abu Taher, 40, son of Khorshed Alam of Darigachi village under Shibganj upazila.
The incident took place at Rasulpur intersection under Shibganj municipality of Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid land port Tuesday evening. The culprits also forcibly took him in their microbus.
While checking the microbus, BDR men at Rajabari check post detained the four at 8:00pm and revealed the story through quizzing.
Later, BDR handed them over to the Shibganj police station through Chapainawabganj Sadar police station. Police also recovered Tk. 1,65,100 out of Tk 1.70 lakh snatched from the trader.
Victim Abu Taher filed a case against four people in Shibganj police station on Tuesday night on charge of kidnapping him and snatching money .
