Ashari Purnima today
Today is Ashari Purnima, one of the most sacred and significant days for the Buddhist community, says a press release.
Buddhists perform religious rites on specific days, especially during full moon.
Monks stay in a particular place or Vihara during the rainy season, also known as Varsavasa, for the ritual. The Varsavasa begins on the day of Ashari Purnima and continues for the next three months.
From this night, monks start a three-month fasting to purify their minds.
