Jubo League, BCL men held with arms in 2 dists
Rab on Friday seized firearms from Jubo League and BCL men in Natore and Habiganj districts and arrested them.
In Natore, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two Jubo League men with a pipe gun from Landanga on Friday night, reports a correspondent.
The arrestees are Mahabub Rahman, 38, president of Biprobelghoria ward Jubo League and son of Abu Bakkar of village Hoaridakhalshi under Landanga upazila and activist Amir Ali, 28, son of Haji Chan Mohammad of the same village.
Obaidul Haque, OC of Landanga police station said, following a tip-off, a team of Rab-5 raided Hoaridakhalshi Primary School and arrested Mahbub and Amir Ali with a pipe gun at around 10:30pm.
Later, Rab handed them over to Landanga police station. A case was also filed in this connection, he added.
In Habiganj, the elite force in its separate drives in the district town arrested five people including a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) along with firearms early Friday.
The arrestees are BCL district joint secretary Habibur Rahman Chowdhury Rajib, 22, Imam Hasan, 24, Injamam Ahmad Ehtesham, 22, Abdul Muhit Chowdhury Mishu, 22, and Abdus Samad Shipon, 25, reports UNB.
Acting on a secret information, a team of Rab-9 of Srimongol camp led by Lt Commander Kawser Mahmud in separate drives arrested BCL leader Habibur, son of Bazlur Rahman and Imam Hasan, son of Sohrab Ali from their residences in the town at about 3:00am.
Following their confessional statement, the law enforcers raided the house of Abdul Hannan in Chowdhury Bazar area of the town and arrested his son Samad along with one revolver, and a bullet.
Later, the elite force also raided the house of Abdul Wahed in the town and arrested his son Abdul Mohit Chowdhury Mishu, 22, along with one LG gun.
Injamam Ahmed Ehtesham, 22, a gunrunner and son of S M Amir Uddin was also arrested in another drive.
