Dhaka-Ctg rail link snapped for 3 hrs
Rail link between Dhaka and Chittagong remained suspended for around three and a half hours yesterday morning as teachers and students blockaded railway at Brahmanbaria demanding inclusion of their college for government subsidy.
The teachers and students of Bayek Shah Alam College in Kosba upazila of the district along with locals put blockade at about 9:00am demanding inclusion of their college in the Monthly Payment Order.
They withdrew the blockade at about 12:30pm after getting assurances from Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan, Superintendent of Police Mukhlesur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ahmed Kabir and Upazila Chairman Ruhul Bakul.
During the blockade, rail communication remained suspended on four routes--Dhaka-Chittagong, Dhaka-Noakhali, Sylhet-Chittagong and Sylhet-Noakhali.
