2 Tangail BCL leaders stabbed
Two BCL leaders were stabbed with sharp weapons by their rivals in Deola area of Tangail town yesterday afternoon.
The injured -- Tangail BCL general secretary Istiaq Ahmed Razib and assistant general secretary of the proposed district committee Atiqur Rahman Rony -- were first admitted to Tangail General Hospital and later shifted to the Orthopedic Hospital in Dhaka, police said.
A rival group led by a local word Awami League leader attacked the two BCL leaders with sharp weapons at around 4:00pm. The attackers also damaged motorcycles of the BCL leaders, police and witnesses said.
The police suspect that the attack might be a sequel to a feud over a shop at the New Bus Terminal area in the town.
Protesting the attack, some BCL leaders and activists blocked the Dhaka-Tangail road at Karotia for about half an hour.
