'Unite to ensure war crimes trial'
Major General (Retd) Helal Morshed Khan said the Freedom Fighters (FFs) should remain united for ensuring trial of the war criminals and building a digital Bangladesh as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said there is no alternative to efficient, honest and committed leadership of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad (BMS) to ensure transparency in the organisation and
welfare of the FFs, who are the best sons and daughters of the soil.
If his panel wins the upcoming BMJS elections, transparency will be ensured in its activities for assuring proper dignity and welfare of the FFs and their monthly allowances will be raised to Tk 5,000, he said.
Besides, identity card will be issued to every FF and steps will be taken to ensure free medicare facilities for them and their family members in government hospitals and medical facilities, he added.
He was introducing his panel for the upcoming BMS elections and addressing as the chief guest a rally of the FFs at Rangpur Town Hall under the leadership of Rangpur
district unit commander Manjurul Islam on Wednesday evening.
Chaired by Manjurul Islam, the meeting was addressed by veteran FFs Major (retd) Nasim Uddin, Abdul Matin, Commander Aiyub Ali, Sirajul Islam and Azizul Islam.
In his speech, Helal, also a candidate for the chairman post, urged the FFs to forge a rock-solid unity among them like that in 1971 for living on this soil with proper dignity and honour.
