Making waves
Dancer-actress Chandni is now busy shooting several TV serials -- Golam Sohrab Dodul's “Barisaler Mama Bhagne,” Salahuddin Lavlu's “Shopnobazar,” Shahidul Islam's “Dipantorar Manush,” Fatha Tanveer's “Metro,” Amlan Bishwash's “Jao Pakhi” and Monir Hossain Jibon's “Gunin.” Some of them are currently being aired on different channels.
About her favourite roles in recent times, Chandni said, “I find my role in “Metro” very interesting. My character is a sex-worker living in a park. This is the first time I'm playing such a character. Before enacting the role, I talked to some sex-workers and observed their approach and even make up.”
On her birthday, Chandni recently visited Bangkok with her husband, musician Bappa Majumdar. She said, “We are always busy and it's difficult to make some time just for us. We had a great time in Bangkok and visited the historic sites. On my birthday, Bappa gave me a beautiful case.”
In the course of her busy career, Chandni has donned a range of memorable roles. “'Dukhai' was my first film. It gave me recognition, but I have never considered myself as a celebrity. I like losing myself in a character. I believe, 'glamour' is a relative concept and can be expressed through all types of characters.”
Asked if she is considering turning to direction, the talented actress said, “I have no intention to direct a film or play. I have directed three dance programmes and three music videos for Bappa's songs. My plan is to continue in these fields.”
About her future plans in the sphere of dance, Chandni said, “I want to ascertain dance as an art form in every corner of the country and work towards giving it the mass popularity other performing art forms enjoy.”
