3 confectioneries fined

A mobile court led by a Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) executive magistrate yesterday fined three confectioneries Tk 1,65,000 in city's Khilgaon and Bashabo area during a drive for producing substandard foods, says a press release.
The court also filed case against them on charge of producing and selling substandard foods.
The New B-Baria Bakery and Confectionery at East Bashabo was fined Tk 80,000, Asian Bread and Confectionery at Dakkhin Para Pradhan Sharak in Khilgaon Tk 55,000 and Konika Bread and Biscuits factory at Nandipara in Khilgaon Tk 30,000.
They were fined for producing and selling biscuit, bread and cake without licence from Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI); producing foods in unhygienic condition with fake trademarks and using concentrated sugar.
