Final hearing begins
The final hearing of the writ petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia challenging the legality of a government notice concerning the cantonment house began at a High Court (HC) bench yesterday.
After concluding the hearing for the first day, the bench of Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana and Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif adjourned the hearing till 2:00pm today.
Earlier on May 23, Chief Justice Mohammad Fazlul Karim sent the writ petition filed by Khaleda to this bench for its hearing as Khaleda expressed no trust in another bench of Justice Md Imman Ali and Justice Obaidul Hasan.
During hearing, petitioner's counsel TH Khan told the court that the deed of the allotment of cantonment house to his client (Khaleda) was registered in accordance with due process of the law, and the government notice asking her to leave the house is illegal and malafide.
