MC College teachers continue protest
Teachers of Sylhet MC College yesterday wore black badges and abstained from work protesting BCL attack on the hostel superintendent's quarters on Wednesday night.
BCS Education Associa-tion, Sylhet chapter and the MC College Teachers Association earlier held separate meetings in this regard on Thursday night.
Prof Syeda Shamsunnahar, principal of the college yesterday chaired a meeting at the college which decided to continue wearing black badges till Wednesday next. The teachers in the meeting also decided to take next course of action on Wednesday and called upon the law enforcers to take measures against the outsiders who often create trouble on the campus.
A group of about 25 MC College activists of Chhatra League on last Wednesday vandalised the quarters of hostel super Saleh Ahmed, also the head of the department of psychology of the college. The teacher lodged a complaint in this regard with Sylhet Kotwali police the next day.
Wednesday's incident took place after Prof. Saleh questioned hostel unit president of BCL Abdur Rashid Ripon's eligibility to stay at the dormitory since he had already finished his master's examination.
Meanwhile, a group of teachers belonging to the two associations met the SP of Sylhet and demanded immediate arrest of attackers.
They also demanded action against the BCL men, who physically assaulted Mahmud Ali, lecturer of the Zakiganj Government College, on Wednesday afternoon.
