3 generations gone with fire

Mokbul Hossain, with his sick wife, a daughter and a grandson reached Dhaka from Noakhali for the treatment of his wife around 5:00pm Thursday.
His other daughter Sharmin and her husband Siddiq worked as cooks at a restaurant near Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Mokbul decided to stay with them since a good connection with hospital employees could get his wife better treatment.
With the visitors, seven people were in the rented tin-built house at Nimtoli that Thursday night. Fifty-year-old Mokbul Hossain, his wife Shahar Banu, 42, his daughter Ferdousi, 24, his grandson Sunny, 8, his other daughter Sharmin Begum, 20, son-in-law Siddiq, 25, and two-year-old grandson Fahim.
Thursday night's Nimtoli fire swept through three generations of this family. None of the seven survived.
There was no one to identify their bodies in Dhaka or bury them. The bodies were in Dhaka Medical College morgue.
Yesterday, a distant relative identified Siddik and Mokbul at the morgue but he had his doubts.
He called in Mokbul's brother Nobi Hossain and Shahar Banu's brother Sahabuddin from Noakhali.
Sahabuddin told The Daily Star that they had difficulty identifying the bodies as they were burned almost beyond recognition.
They took them to Sonaimuri in Noakhali for burial.
