Govt may consider 8th Wage Board

Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad informed the House yesterday the government may consider formation of the 8th Wage Board for the newspaper industry if a proposal to this end is received from the concerned people of the newspaper industry.
Responding to a written question from treasury bench member Sadhana Halder, he said the 7th Wage Board Award for the newspaper industry was announced on May 21 in 2008 through a gazette notification.
Azad said the issue of amending the Copyright Act-2000 to check video piracy is under process by the Cultural Affairs Ministry.
