UK concerned at closure of media houses

The British government has expressed concerned at the recent closure of media houses in Bangladesh.
"We are very concerned at the recent closure of media outlets. This raises questions of media freedom in Bangladesh, which is vital for a functional and sustainable democracy,” said a spokesperson of the British High Commission in Dhaka yesterday.
The statement came following the closure of private satellite TV Channel 1 and the daily Amar Desh.
