2 more Jamaat men arrested in Bogra

Police arrested two Jaamat leaders yesterday in connection with May 28 attack on upazila nirbahi officer Abdus Samad and officer-in-charge of Shajahanpur police station Anisur Rahman.
Police said they picked up Abdus Sattar and Abdur Rahim Badshah on charge of hindering public service and attacking the UNO and OC.
On May 28, the UNO imposed Section 144 banning a rally in Shajahanpur upazila, as local Jaamat leaders arranged it without permission of the authorities.
On hearing the news of Section 144, Jaamat-Shibir activists and their supporters attacked the UNO and the OC and assaulted them, witnesses said.
The same night police lodged a case accusing eight people and 200 other unnamed Jaamat leaders and activists.
Abdur Rahim is a former upazila general secretary and Abdus Sattar is a union chief of Jamaat in the district.
They were arrested from their residences yesterday morning.
Earlier, police also arrested Khottapara union Jaamat secretary Saidur Rahman and principal of Ahmedia Senior Madrasa Ramzan Ali on Monday and Sunday in this connection.
