4 arrested, gun seized from them in Natore
The law enforcers arrested four people hours after a contractor was shot at Tengragari in Natore Sadar upazila Monday evening
The arrestees are Masud alias Pagla Masud, 30, Rabiul, 28, Uttam, 30 and Palash, 27.
Natore police arrested the four at Dhalan under Natore Sadar upazila while they were going to Rajshahi in an ambulance. They (police) also recovered a shutter gun and two bullets from their possession.
Contractor Mohammad Ali, 48, of Baro Gachha area in Natore town got work order for construction of a road from Khajuria to Korer Gram under Natore Sadar upazila. Construction work of a portion of the road was given to Bakul Sarker, son of State Minister for Youth and Sports Ahad Ali Sarker.
Mohammad Ali went to Kholabaria in the evening and found that Bakul Sarker's men were keeping stones on his work site. As he protested it, they had an altercation with Mohammad Ali. Later, Ali started for Natore town in a motorbike.
Ali alleged that when he reached Tenragari nine people riding three motorbikes waylaid him and shot at his legs. He was admitted to Natore hospital and then shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Denying the allegation, Bakul Sarker said he is building a portion of the road, using Mohammad Ali's licence.
Officer-in- Charge of Natore Sadar Police Station Abdullah Al Mamun said no case was filed in connection with the incident as of yesterday afternoon.
