TV serial “Poush Phaguner Pala” to go on air
New TV serial “Poush Phaguner Pala” will go on air on ATN Bangla from June 15. The serial is an adaptation of Gajendra Kumar Mitra's novel trilogy -- “Kolkata-r Kachhei,” “Upokanthey” and “Poush Phaguner Pala.” Depicting the socio-cultural aspects of Dhaka in the 1960s and '70s and its adjacent areas, the serial is directed by actress-director Afsana Mimi.
The story of the serial zooms in on Rashmoni, a widow. Rashmoni got married at the age of thirteen to a Zaminder who was in his late 50s. Misery takes over Rashmoni's life, as her husband gets embroiled in a family conspiracy and is killed. After her husband's demise, Rashmoni with her three daughters -- Kamola, Shyama and Uma -- moves to Dhaka from the other side of the border. Her struggle to survive and to provide for a better life for her offspring unfolds throughout the serial.
The cast includes popular TV actors -- Ferdousi Majumdar, Humayun Faridi, Raisul Islam Asad, Keya Chowdhury, Afroza Banu, Tropa Majumdar, Hasan Imam, Sharmili Ahmed, Jyotsna Biswas, Masud Ali Khan, Intekhab Dinar, Sanjida Preeti, Sohana Saba and Joyita Mahalanbish.
Eraj Ahmed and Mansur Rahman Chanchal have jointly dramatised the serial. So far, shooting of the first 50 episodes have been completed at Dhamrai. The serial is being produced by Krishnachura Productions Limited.
The serial will be aired on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:20 pm. Premiere of the serial will be held on June 13 at Star Cineplex.
