Patuakhali Jamaat office ransacked, ameer beaten up
Patuakhali office of Jamaat-e-Islami was ransacked and district unit ameer beaten up yesterday.
In Bogra, police on Sunday arrested a Jamaat leader in connection with a case filed on Saturday.
Our Correspondent in Patuakhali reports: Criminals yesterday noon attacked Jamaat office of Patuakhali district unit.
The attackers ransacked the office room and beat up ameer of district unit Fakhor Uddin Khan Razi. He is now being treated at a clinic in the town.
Party sources said, at about 2:00 pm some 30 unidentified people entered the party office at Kazipara in the town with sticks, lethal and sharps weapons. They ransacked three rooms including that of the ameer in the office. They ransacked almiras, tables, chairs, book selves and other furniture and looted computer, TV card, fax machine from the office, they said.
No case was filed till filing of this report at 3:30 pm yesterday.
In Bogra, police Sunday arrested a local Jamaat-e-Islami leader in connection with a case filed against 300 unnamed Jamaat-Shibir activists for holding a rally on Friday defying Section 144 and manhandling a UNO at Fultala Senior Fazil Madrasa ground in Shahjahanpur upazila, reports UNB.
The arrestee was principal of the madrasa Maulana Ramjan Ali Akand. He was picked up from his office. Police were conducting nighttime raids in the houses of Jamaat-Shibir men to arrest them for their alleged involvement in Friday's incident.
Eight local Jamaat leaders and two sons of ex-Jamaat Ameer of Bogra and former MP late Maulana Abdur Rahman Fakir were named in the case along with 300 unnamed Jamaat-Shibir activists.
In the case police said Jamaat and Shibir men held rally at the madrasa ground defying the ban imposed by the administration and intentionally assaulting the government official while performing his official duty on the day.
