AL factions clash over LGED work
At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two factions of Awami League over tender at district's LGED Bhaban yesterday.
Some 26 schedules have been submitted for construction of two roads at Borai village of the district at a cost of Tk 75 lakh, said district LGED Executive Engineer Lokman Ali.
Around 11:40 am, the lottery for awarding the work was held in presence of 11 contractors.
Soon after the lottery, two contractors--Manik and Afzal, a worker of Jubo League,--demanded a fresh lottery saying no lottery was held for the work.
At one stage, they locked in an altercation with other contractors that led the clash.
Police later charged batons and brought the situation under control.
