'AIDS needs much attention'

East West University (EWU) and UNFPA jointly organised a daylong programme to raise awareness about AIDS yesterday, says a press release.
A seminar was also held at the university auditorium in this connection.
Jalaluddin Ahmed, president, Board of Directors of EWU, was present at the seminar as the chief guest.
He said that AIDS is the biggest catastrophe in the world. It needs much attention, sensitisation and mobilisation through NGOs, government and civil society.
Dr Hasina Begum, head of Social Franchising and Quality Assurance of Social Marketing Company, presented the keynote paper at the seminar, chaired by EWU Vice Chancellor Prof Mohammad Sharif.
Popular actress Rokeya Prachi was present at the seminar as special guest.
