One dies as two brothers scuffle over land dispute
One person died following scuffle with his brother over land dispute at Uttara in the city early hours of yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Masudur Rahman, 38, a cable operator at Uttara.
Police arrested seven people, including the victim's brother Mustafizur Rahman, from their residence at Uttara Sector 7 in the city, in this connection.
Victim's wife Laila Rahman filed a murder case accusing eight people, including the arrestees, with the Uttara police station.
Victim's another brother Mushfiqur Rahman told The Daily Star that family members of his two younger brothers Mustafizur Rahman and Masudur Rahman and younger sister Eva who used to live in the house locked into a clash over land dispute around 12:30am.
Masud died in his bedroom about half an hour after the clash, he said.
Mushfiq said Mustafiz was in Saudi Arabia for about 30 years. Recently he returned to Bangladesh and started living along with his family at the house at Road No 32 in Uttara. The clash began after Masud and Eva had locked the collapsible gate when Mustafiz was trying to enter the house at 10:00pm on Friday, said Mushfiq. Later he unlocked the gate with the help of police around 12:00 at night.
The clash started after police left the place, Mushfiq added.
