One killed in clash over piece of land
A man was killed and four others were injured in a clash between neighbours at Atasur in Keraniganj yesterday over a piece of land.
The dead was identified as Ajit Karati, 50, a trader of iron sheets, while the injured were Purba Rani Karati, 45, wife of Ajit Karati, his brothers Sumon Karati, 38, and Madhu, 35, and his mother-in-law Ummadini Rani, 58.
Talking to reporters at Mitford Hospital, Madhu said a group of around 50 miscreants led by his neighbour Salauddin swooped on them at their residence over previous rivalry centring a piece of land.
"The cadres ransacked our house at around 10:30am and beat us mercilessly that left my brother (Ajit) severely injured. He was rushed to the Mitford Hospital but the on duty doctors declared him dead at around 11:30am," Madhu claimed.
Talking to The Daily Star, Officer-in-Charge of Keraniganj Model Police Station said a case was filed and five of the attackers have been arrested.
