Cabinet body okays 6 proposals
Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase in a meeting yesterday approved six proposals from different ministries for the procurement of goods and services.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith presided over the meeting, attended by senior ministers.
The imports of 50,000 tonnes of non-Basmati boiled rice from Singapore at a cost of Tk 171.21 crore and 300,000 tonnes of wheat from Russia at a cost of Tk 457.27 crore have got the nod. Besides, construction of three high-rise residential buildings at a total cost of Tk 47.07 crore at Mohammadpur Block-F in the city received the approval.
The National Housing Authority will construct the buildings under a project to sell out flats to the middle and low-income people on hire-purchase basis. Each of the three high-rise buildings will accommodate 60 flats.
The committee also gave its nod to a tender proposal of the Chittagong Port Authority under the Shipping Ministry to construct back-up facilities behind berth No-4 & 5 at the New Mooring Container Terminal.
A local firm - Project Builders Limited - was selected as responsive bidder to do the work at a cost of Tk 97.85 crore.
A finance ministry proposal to appoint PDP Australia Pty Ltd as consultant for implementing a project - Deepening MTBF and Strengthening Financial Accountability - obtained the nod of the
Cabinet body. The firm was proposed to be appointed at a cost of Tk 297 crore.
The committee also gave its nod to a proposal of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) under the Planning Ministry to appoint a consultant at a cost of Tk 16.61 crore for its Public Procurement Reform Project-2.
