Timber worth Tk 10 lakh seized, 4 held

Members of Coast Guard and Forest Department men in a joint drive yesterday arrested four people and seized Sundari log worth Tk 10 lakh from the river Meghna in Chandpur.
The arrestees were identified as Aslam, Jahangir Kazi, Idris and Yousuf Ali.
Coast Guard member Mamun said that the boat carrying the log measuring 2000 CFT hidden in other goods was caught when it reached Meghna estuary in Chandpur at around 10:00am.
The boat left from Shariatpur and failed to show necessary documents in support of their carrying the log.
