Schoolgirl burnt to death by stalker
Police strangely claim she committed suicide (April 7, 2010)
Pinky, forgive us. We failed to look after you. I have two sisters. Both of them in university. But when they go to university we ( including my parents) feel worried about their security. It is not possible for the govt alone to control it or remove eve teasing forever. Actually, our social norms are responsible for this. We have to teach our children properly.
Md. Raseduzzaman
The murderer must be brought to justice.
Borhan
It is time for the nation to really see what measures are taken by the government and for The Daily Star to stay on the case until its resolution. Mere reporting will not cause the stir that is needed to exorcise this malady that persists in Bangladesh society.
SA
What is happening? Young boys in Bangladesh are now behaving like savage people.
Kazi Firoz
Pinky dear, rest in peace. You were born in a country where two 'powerful' women ruled/rules. But unfortunately they are not for you. They did never care to put at least one of the torturers or acid throwers or killers to dreary death even when they were caught red-handed. This is not a country for girls like you.
S. Ali
The government, Chhatra League & media are always active against the Jamaat-Shibir. Why not against stalkers?
Sabina Syeed
Violence against girls must be stopped if a nation wants to be civilized. In a civilized country violence against women cannot exist. We all should stand against the perpetrators of such crimes.
Faridul Alam
How many innocent children have to die to awaken the government and society?
Simon Abrahham
What is the answer? Do not like to see & hear this type of occurrences in the country any more. Why will our daughters & sisters be killed in this manner? For God's sake, please come forward to give a solution to this problem. The criminals should be hanged in an open place & it should be telecast, so that nobody in future tries to commit such crimes any more.
Faruk
Well, this is a painful incident indeed. Living in a civilized society we just indulge in barbarism. As always, it is surprising that the stance of the police is ambiguous. It won't be an exaggeration to say that we are losing our mutual respect continuously. The fact is that the offender remains untouched as well as unpunished.
Md. Touhidul Islam
Teasing the school going girls is a common thing in our country. Day by day it's increasing alarmingly.
Mohammed Abdur Razzaque
Pinki, I am weeping & praying for you.
I don't believe at all what the police said. You did not lie in your deathbed. Our leaders have forgotten that they too have children.
Sharafat Hossain
Expect to see immediate action against the culprits.
Dino
Punish the culprits.
Rashel
There are so many Tobaraks in many cities and countrysides in Bangladesh. They should get due punishment.
Zahid Hasan
Blood for blood. Hang him in a public place. We, the general people of Bangladesh, want justice.
Engr. Zakir
I don't believe police need to find out the real criminals and arrest them. The faces are known. It's not a normal suicide.
Mahfuz
I hate the way our government is handling this kind of brutality. I even sometimes get worried when I look at my younger sister. God help us.
Tonmoy
Daily Star, would you follow up on this until justice is served?
SC
Instead of taking systematic and effective steps to solve this problem, the police were ordered to monitor schools temporarily! Anyway, people don't trust the police, in the first place!
Ezajur Rahman
Unless the police are alert and go after the stalkers and eve teasers in their areas, many such tragedies will continue to occur. Alas!
Ziauddin Ahmed
Pinky, we have no word to say sorry. We again failed to protect one of our sisters.
