Bangladesh, India reach semis
Bangladesh and India emerged unbeaten group champions to reach semifinals of the IHF Handball Challenge Trophy (Men's Under-21) Championship after beating their rivals in respective group matches yesterday.
Pre-tournament favourites India emerged Group A champions beating traditional rivals Pakistan by 40-27 goals in their last group game while hosts Bangladesh finished top of Group B beating Yemen by 33-28 goals in their last group encounters at the Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.
India will play Group B runners-up Yemen in the first semifinal at 2pm while Bangladesh will face Group A runners-up Pakistan in the 2nd semi at 4pm today at the same venue.
Two bottom teams of the two groups -- Nepal and Afghanistan -- will meet in the fifth place-deciding match today at 9 am.
