Woman power honoured
Three women from the district were honoured in Chuadanga for their contribution to society: Sufia Khatun Lata (for promoting self-employment), Sahida Khatun (for her role the field of literacy) and Rashida Hasnu Ara ( for women's development). The women received crests and certificates. The honours coincided with celebrations of 100-years of International Women's Day.
On the occasion, a day long programme was organised. Jatyia Mahila Sangstha, Chuadanga district unit arranged the programme held at Chuadanga Town Hall.
With Roufun Nahar Rina, in the chair, the programme was inaugurated by Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bholanath Dey.
The speakers at the programme were Chuadanga Municipality Mayor Riazul Haq Joardar as chief guest, while Chuadanga sadar upazila Women vice chairman Kohinur Begum, journalist and executive director of Palli Unnayan Sangstha Saiful Islam Pinu, Jatyia Mahila Sangstha Chuadanga unit's Nurunnahar Kakali were special guests.
Thousands of women, including housewives, students and working women, took part in the programme. The programme included a rally, discussion and cultural event.
