Hasina meets Chinese president
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday sought Chinese assistance and cooperation to turn Bangladesh into a modern digital country and face climate change battle.
The premier made the request when she met Chinese President Hu Jintao at Fu Jian Hall of the Great Hall in the Chinese capital.
The Chinese president assured Hasina of his country's continued cooperation towards achieving socio-economic development of Bangladesh.
Hasina at the meeting expressed the hope that comprehensive partnership of cooperation between Bangladesh and China will help Bangladesh achieve its development goals.
Earlier, three agreements and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) were signed between Bangladesh and China on Thursday.
During the meeting, Hasina also mentioned Bangladesh's `One-China Policy'.
Regarding climate change, Hasina expressed the hope that China will present the problems and calamities being faced by Bangladesh and other countries before the international community.
Later, she had bilateral talks with Wu Bangguo, chairman of standing committee of the National People's Congress.
Earlier in the day, Hasina visited the Olympic Stadium "Bird's Nest" and National Centre for Performing Arts where she enjoyed a performance titled "Road to Recovery".
