Unveiling of biographical work

A discussion and cultural function on the occasion of the unveiling of a biography was held in Kurigram Town Hall on March 13. The book is authored by Nasir Uddin Shabuj, the vice-president of the Kurigram unit of The Daily Star Readers' Club.
Biographical sketches of 12 prominent people find place in the book: Syed Shamsul Haque; Al-Haj SM Delwar Hossain; Bir Protik Taramon Bibi; Professor Tapon Kumar Rudra; Dr. Mohammad Rezaul Haque; Subrata Bhattacharya; Bhupati Bhushan Barma; Mohammad Shamsul Haque; Alef Uddin; Dr. Hossain Ali; Mostafa Tofail and Nandita Chakrabarti.
Treasurer of Begum Rokeya University, Professor Mozammelul Haque was chief guest, Principal of Kurigram Government College Professor Abul Kasem was special guest while Kurigram correspondent of The Daily Star Abdul Wahed was in the chair. Among the speakers were head of the English Department of Kurigram Government College, Associate Professor Tofayal Hossain; former principal of Carmichael College Rangpur, Professor Rezaul Haque; writer Nasir Uddin Shabuj and lecturer of Begum Rokeya University, Tuhin Wadud. Assistant Professor of Kaunia Degree College Shashoto Bhattacharya reviewed the book. Kurigram unit of the club organised the unveiling function.
On the heels of the discussion, in the evening a cultural function was held in the hall by artists of Bhawaiya Academy at Ulipur upazila of the district.
