Opposition chief whip claims of threat on life
Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque filed a general diary Friday night with Gulshan Police Station in the capital after receiving threats over telephone.
In the GD, he mentioned that someone threatened on phone to kill him just a few hours after he had alleged at a press briefing at his Gulshan residence that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy is involved in illegal VOIP business.
He also said that he and his family members are in danger, and thus sought police protection.
The opposition chief whip told reporters that he received the first call on his LAN phone around 1:00pm and the second call on his mobile phone at 7:45pm.
He could not detect the number as it was showing "zero" on his cellphone.
Officer-in-Charge of Gulshan Police Station Kamal Uddin told The Daily Star that legal action would be taken if they find any proof in the allegation.
The OC also said, "We will send the chief whip's cellphone number to Detective Branch of police today to examine the call list.”
