Colours of spring
A cultural programme titled "Boshonto Shondha" was held on Saturday evening at District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium in Thakurgaon.
The school branch of Thakurgaon Alpona Shahitya Shangskriti Shangshad organised the event to celebrate spring.
The programme included a discussion, renditions of songs and dances.
Water Resources Minister Ramesh Chandra Sen inaugurated the programme. The auditorium resonated with the Tagore song “Aguner Porosh Moni Chhoao Praney”.
This was followed by a group dance to the song “Projapoti Jakhan Takhan”.
Later, a discussion was held with Deputy Commissioner of Thakurgaon, Munshi Shahabuddin Ahmed; Superintendent of Police BM Harun ur Rashid; headmaster of Thakurgaon Government Boys' High School Akhtaruzzaman Shabu and others as special guests.
President of Thakurgaon Alpona Shahitya Shangskriti Shangshad, Shafiqul Islam presided over the discussion.
Boshonto (spring) is the harbinger of a new and fresh chapter. Celebration of Boshonto is an integral part of our Bengali culture and heritage, discussants said.
Such programmes help to preserve our cultural heritage, they added.
After the discussion the chief guest unveiled the cover of the 17th 'Chalcittra', a quarterly Shahitya publication of Alpona Shahitya Shangskriti Shangshad.
The programme ended with a choreography on the Liberation War with the music of Moushumi Bhowmik “Jossore Road”.
