Arms peddler caught, pistol, bullets seized

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Saturday night injured an arms peddler in a gunshot and arrested him at Bhurkapara village in Daulatpur upazila and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession.
A Rab member also received stab injury as the criminal attacked him during the incident.
Rab sources said, a team from Rab-12 raided the house of Biswed Ali, a suspected arms peddler at the village at about 7:00pm.
Sensing Rab presence, Biswed tried to flee but Rab man Rafiq caught him after a brief chase.
At this, Biswed hit the Rab man with a sharp knife. Rafiq then shot at Biswed's leg and injured him.
Later, Rab recovered a pistol and six bullets from Biswed's house.
Rafiq received injury in his right hand and arm and now undergoing treatment at Kushtia General Hospital.
Bullet hit Biswed, 45, is also being treated at the same hospital under police custody.
In Chuadanga, Rab-6 recovered three firearms and 9 bullets from Jibannagar bus stand area in the town on Friday night.
Acting on a tip-off that a group of arms peddlers were waiting at Sabbir Sweetmeat Shop at Jibannagar bus stand to sell firearms, a Rab team raided the spot at about 8.30pm.
Sensing Rab presence, the criminals fled the scene leaving a briefcase there.
Opening the briefcase, Rab found two pistols, one shutter gun and nine bullets.
