Another case against Tayebur for 'extortion'
Detained Khulna City Corporation (KCC) mayor SheikhTayebur Rahman has been sued in another extortion case, the seventh since November 2.
Fish trader Abdul Quddus of Khulna kitchen market lodged the case with Khulna Sadar police station yesterday evening naming Tayebur as the prime accused among ten others including some KCC officials.
The complainant mentioned in the FIR that the accused including the mayor took from him Tk three lakh early this year in the name of allotting him a shop in the kitchen market. But they did not keep their promise, he alleged.
As he demanded refund of the money, they threatened him, the complainant alleged.
Tayebur was arrested in Dhaka on November 11 in several cases. He was shifted to Jessore Central Jail on November 12.
Tayebur made statement to court under section 164 of CrPc in five cases confessing to his involvement in extortion.
