Pabna Ekushey Book fair
Renowned human rights activist Advocate Sultana Kamal emphasised the need to develop reading habits. "Reading books," she added, "sharpen the creativity of a human being." She was addressing a gathering as chief guest at the Pabna Ekushey Book Fair recently.
In her words, "Ekushey embodies a spirit. This is the spirit to fight against anarchy. On February 21, 1952, the supreme sacrifices of the brave sons of the nation inspired all to take a stand against injustice. We gained our independence through the Liberation War, but the values were initiated by Ekushey."
Vice president of Ekushey Book Fair Celebration Committee Mohammad Saidul Haque chaired the discussion while educationist Mirza Shahidul Islam, Professor Monwar Hossain Jahedi, Mohammad Abdul Aziz, and Ali Murtuza Bishwas spoke on the occasion.
Later artistes presented music and dance performances, as well as poetry recitation. The artistes of Basic Art Academy, Baul MA Gafur Sangeet Academy, AFA Institute, Pabna Drama Circle and several other organisations participated in the cultural events.
The three-week Ekushey Book Fair was inaugurated by Speaker of the Parliament Advocate Abdul Hamid on February 6. As in previous years, the Ekushey Book Fair turned into a mass gathering.
