Road crashes kill four
At least four people were killed and 28 others injured in separate road accidents in Tangail and Khagrachhari yesterday.
Our Correspondent from Tangail reports: Two people were killed and eight others injured in a road accident at Mirzapur upazila in the district early hours of yesterday.
Quoting local people police said the accident occurred at around 4:00am when a Dhaka-bound passenger-laden microbus from Ghatail hit a standing goods-laden trick from behind on Dhaka-Tangail road in Deohata area, leaving two microbus passengers dead on the spot and eight others injured.
Local people rushed the injured to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital.
Of them, condition of microbus passengers Ansar Ali, 22, and Nurunnahar, 35, is critical.
One of the dead was identified as Habibur Rahman, 45, of Ghatail upazila while identity of the other aged about 30 could not be known immediately.
Our correspondent from Khagrachhari adds: Two unidentified people were killed and 20 others injured in a road accident at Kalapani in the hill district.
The dead were identified only as wife of Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, a businessman from Andarmanik area under Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong and his seven-year-old child.
Of the injured, condition of driver Mohammad Nurunnabi, 40, passenger Bibi Fatema, 15, Helaluddin, 30, Babu, 25, and Abul Hossain, 32, was stated to be critical.
Police said the accident occurred at around 11:30am when a Ramghar-bound passenger bus from Feni fell into a roadside ditch breaking the railing of a bridge at Kalapani as its lost control over the steering.
