Forgettable debut for Frey
Keeper Sebastien Frey had a poor debut for France in their 2-2 draw against Ukraine and did little to show that he could be the reserve keeper to Gregory Coupet at next year's Euro 2008 finals.
France had already qualified for the showcase event in Austria and Switzerland from Group B but it was a chance for Frey to show his mettle but he made a major error in conceding one of the goals.
The inclusion of the Fiorentina keeper by coach Raymond Domenech was a rare talking point in a match without anything riding on it as Ukraine were already eliminated.
Though Frey has often been called into the France squad, this was his first cap and he had a chance to display his skills after the poor display by Mickael Landreau in the 2-2 friendly draw against Morocco last week, indicating Domenech has not made his mind up as the best number two keeper.
Frey could not be faulted for the first goal on 13 minutes scored with an unstoppable shot by Andriy Voronin.
France got back on track with goals from Thierry Henry and then Sidney Govou however in the 46th minute Frey made himself look mediocre after a harmless-looking header by Andriy Shevchenko ended up in the net for Ukraine's equaliser.
