Kishoreganj JCD leader sent to jail in extortion cases
Former secretary of Kishoreganj Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Khaled Saifullah Shohel was sent to jail yesterday when he appeared before court in Kishoreganj in two extortion cases.
Sessions Judge Malik Abdullah Al-Amin denied bail to Shohel and his brother Ruhul Amin Raihan and sent them to jail.
In one of the cases filed with Kishoreganj Sadar police station on September 22, complainant Md. Shahidullah alleged that he have Sohel's father Tk 1,75,000 as security money when he rented a house in Kacharibazar area in the town. When he left the house, he demanded the money but Sohel, on behalf of his father, declined. Rather, the two brothers demanded payment of Tk 50,000 every month to run his (Shahidullah) construction business.
Investigating officer (IO) of the case SI Obayed of Kishoreganj Sadar police station submitted charge sheet against Sohel and his brother on October 1 under Speedy Trial Act.
The other case was filed on September 28 by brickfield owner Md. Ishaq Bhuyan of Alormela area of the town.
Sohel was an aspirant for BNP ticket in the election which was to be held in January this year.
