Body formed to probe Nov 16 grid failure
The government yesterday formed a seven-member committee to find out the reasons behind the grid failure twice that resulted in a collapse of the entire power-supply system on November 16.
Former chairman of the Power Development Board (PDB) ANM Rizwan (grid expert) will head the investigation committee. The other members of the committee are Buet Professors Kamrul Ahsan and Dr S Shahnewaz Ahmed, former REB chairman Touhidul Islam (distribution expert), former PDB chairman Khijir Khan (generation expert), Trainer at the Military Institute of Science and Technology Lt Coln Moyeen Uddin and Director (technical) of Power Grid Company Ruhul Amin.
According to a circular of the Power Division of the Ministry of Energy and Power, the committee will also make specific suggestion to avert such disasters in future".
The committee has been asked to submit its report in two weeks.
