Birth centenary celebration of Binod Bihari begins today
The three-day birth centenary programme of anti-British Movement veteran Binod Bihari Chowdhury, a close comrade of Master Da Surya Sen, will begin in the port city today.
The centenary celebration committee has chalked out elaborate programmes.
Former chief justice and chief adviser to a caretaker government Mohammad Habibur Rahman will inaugurate the programme at Shaheed Khudiram Manch at Shaheed Minar at 3:30 pm today.
Resident Editor of the Daily Prothom Alo and member secretary of the celebration committee Abul Momen said they have taken an elaborate programmes to pay tribute to legendary revolutionary Binod Bihari Chowdhury, who was awarded Swadhinata Padak in 1998.
The programmes include procession, cultural function, exhibition of photographs on the life and activities of Binod Bihari, who turns one hundred years.
A series of seminars including Bangaleer Rastrasadhana, Bangaleer Sangskritik Sadhana and Future of Bangladesh will also be held.
A civic reception would be accorded to Binod Bihari at JM Sen Hall on Sunday, the concluding day of the programme. Nobel laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus will attend the reception as the chief guest.
